The voluntary recall included eggs produced in Texas and sold under several brand names in six states, the Food and Drug Administration said.
The committee endorsed broader use of the peptides in lightly regulated compounding pharmacies that have grown into a multibillion-dollar business.
The agency is considering whether compounding pharmacies should be allowed to produce BPC-157, TB-500 and other previously banned peptides.
“Consumers should not be faced with a trade-off between nutrition and food safety,” writes Susan Mayne, former director of the FDA Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has lauded peptides and said he takes them himself.
